									In <strong>1960s</strong>, The American professor of philosophy, <strong>Matthew Lipman</strong>, realize that it is late for his students to learn the right thinking after seeing that their reasoning skills are inadequate. Based on this awareness, Lipman initiates the philosophy <strong>(P4C)</strong> pedagogy for children.								</div>

									While <strong>Matthew Lipman</strong> and one of his followers <strong>Ann Sharp</strong> develop this pedagogy, they were based on the Socratic method of dialogue. In this method, initially, the person in front of us is assumed to know nothing, and his thinking and questioning are provided by asking him some questions.								</div>

									An inquirer community (Community of Inquiry) is created in the <strong>P4C</strong> method. The teacher is called as ‘Facilitator’ in this community. The facilitator does not control the investigation during the investigation which is supported by the facilitator by asking router questions. During the investigation, children are directed to ask questions, to express their thoughts on the questions, and to listen to each other.								</div>

As a result of her work, Murris has made it possible for philosophy to be applied to preschool children. 									Implementation of <strong>P4C</strong> education method in schools is started from kindergarten. The most important reason for this is that a 5-year-old has a natural ability, just like a philosopher, to ask questions. Children in this age group, who are constantly asking questions at home and who have intense curiosity, are not able to see the interest and support they deserve.								</div>

									<p>This movement, which is very widespread in the world, has started to be applied rapidly by the main schools which are open to innovative education systems in our country. P4C applications are extremely important for children of this age group with the potential to ask a very strong question. It has great importance of improving the most basic feature of human being, which is defined as thinking entity, with awareness at young ages.</p><p>P4C develops critical and creative thinking skills that a person will need throughout his or her life and education. Children learn to find answers to questions or to ask new questions, to share ideas freely, to listen to friends, to be attentive when objecting to their ideas, or to develop the idea in cooperation by participating in a shared story, film, or picture.</p><p>The purpose of P4C was never to teach children philosophers or history of philosophy. The goal is to teach children to think and to ask questions. Matthew Lipman, who developed the P4C training approach, believes that the desire for curiosity and discovery from the nature of children, when combined with philosophy, will make children more flexible and efficient in the future.</p><p>After Lipman, several thinkers and educator advocated the method of philosophy with children. One of them is Thomas E. Jackson. Jackson predicted to begin philosophy education with children in kindergarten, to take part in the curriculum of primary education and to be a regular course. He is a philosopher who is well known in our country with his philosophy books written specifically for preschool students. In books written for 3 years and older, the aim is for parents and teachers to read them to children and to reveal various discussion topics on books.								</div>

Odadaki insanlarla iletişim kurabilir ve açık bir kitabın sayfasından bir anlam çıkarabilir. Duvardaki resme bakabilir ve anlam verebilir, sesleri dinleyebilir ve bunun bir müzik parçası olduğunu fark edebilir. Bir süre önce kahvaltı yaptığını ve yakında öğle yemeği vakti olacağını biliyor olabilir. Bunlar çocukların kanıksadığımız davranışları. Ancak çocuk bir beyin hasarıyla ya da kör veya sağır olarak doğduysa bu bilişsel süreçler imkansız olmasa bile çok daha zor gerçekleşir. Çocuklar dünyayı nasıl böyle başarılı bir şekilde anlamlandırabiliyor?</p></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column wpb_content_element "><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>Çocuğun dünyayı anlamak için öncelikle etrafındaki görsel ve işitsel uyaranları görüp kavraması, kulak vermesi, algılaması gerekir. Ne olduklarına ve nasıl karşılık vereceğine karar verirken bunları aklında tutmalıdır. Pencerenin önünde hareket eden o karanlık şekil neydi? Düşünmek ve bellekte saklamak mı gerekiyor yoksa göz ardı edilebilecek geçici bir izlenim mi? Bir kuşu tanıyabilmesi, bununla ilgili daha önce depolanmış anılara sahip olduğu, ‘kuş’ kavramını geliştirdiği ve ‘uçuş’ süreciyle ilgili bir fikri olduğu anlamına gelir.</p></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column wpb_content_element "><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>Bu deneyimi aktarmak için bazı dil araçları geliştirir. Kitaptaki şekilleri ve sembolleri veya duvardaki resmi tercüme edebilmeyi öğrenir. Bu algılama, bellek, kavram oluşumu, dil ve sembolizasyon süreçleri, akıl yürütme, öğrenme ve problem çözme yeteneğinin altında yatan temel bilişsel becerilerdir. Düşünmeyi incelemek, insanlar olarak dünyayı deneyimlediğimiz ve anlamlandırdığımız bu yapıları ve süreçleri incelemektir. Bir çocuğun söylediği gibi ‘Eğer düşünmeseydik, biz diye bir şey olmazdı’.</p></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column wpb_content_element "><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>Normal gelişim gösteren tüm insanlar düşünme kapasitesine ve becerisine sahiptir, ancak bu kapasite bireyler arasında (ve belki de içinde) geniş ölçüde değişir. Küçük bir çocuk bir yetişkinle aynı bilişsel süreçlere sahip olabilir. 									<p>Yetişkinlerin gördüklerine verdikleri tepkiler alışılmış ve tanıdıktır. Bir çocuğa tuhaf ve yeni görünebilecek bilgileri otomatik olarak işlerler. Yetişkinler muhtemelen o kuşu daha önce birçok kez görmüşlerdir ve otomatik olarak karatavuk veya martı olarak sınıflandırabilirler. Çocuğaysa sürekli bir dizi yeni uyaran sunulmaktadır. Yetişkin dünyadaki yolunu bulup, bilişsel güçlerini seçimleri doğrultusunda kullanabiliyorken, çocuğun bu gücü tuhaf ve yeni bir ortamı kavramak için kullanması gerekir. Çocuklar bilinmeyen geniş toprakların seyyahlarıdır bizse onların rehberleri.</p><p>Acımasız bir ortamda zayıf yaratıklar olarak varolan insanlar hayatta kalabilmek için bilişsel kapasitelerini geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duymuşlardır. En etkili strateji (yetişkinler veya çocuklar için), herhangi bir zamanda hayatta kalmak için en önemli anahtar olan bu yönümüzle ilgilenmektir. Bugün yetişkinlerin çoğu, bu hayati tehditlerden nispeten arınmıştır. Artan bilişsel farkındalığa daha az ihtiyaç vardır. İnsanlar düşük seviyelerde bilişsel aktivite ile oldukça mutlu ve başarılı bir şekilde var olabilirler. Çocuklar da acil tehdit oluşturmayan uyaranları görmezden gelmeyi öğrenebilir, onlar da daha az düşünmeyle hayatlarını yaşayabilirler. Ancak dünyayı anlamaya ihtiyaçları ve onları çevreleyen uyaranlarla ilgili doğal bir merakları vardır. Bunun yanında dünyayı anlayabilmek için yaşadıkları deneyimlerle topladıkları bilgileri işlemek konusunda yardıma da ihtiyaç duyarlar. Çocuğa yardım etmek için bu anlam verme süreçlerinin ne olduğunu anlamaya çalışmalıyız. Düşünme nedir? Düşünme nedir?
